Kings of Leon Draft Danny DeVito for Bizarre ‘Mechanical Bull’ Video

kings of leon, mechanical bull, it's always sunny in philadelphia, danny devito

Kings of Leon keep cleverly calling in favors from the comedy community to hawk their upcoming album, Mechanical Bull. The Nashville outfit tapped Jimmy Fallon to announce the impending LP, recruited Fred Armisen to direct a live webcast for American Express’ Unstaged series, and now they’ve teamed with the cast of hit FX sitcom It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia for a new promotional video.

The Followill fellas don’t actually appear in the just-released clip — instead, they point the spotlight at It’s Always Sunny‘s Danny DeVito, Glenn Howerton, and Charlie Day, all of whom play themselves. The short focuses on Howerton’s deranged, Hearts of Darkness-esque quest to make an amazing promo video for KoL’s Come Around Sundown follow-up. Phones are smashed, money is wasted, hoagies are eaten, and DeVito actually says, “My sex is on fire.” Find all that and more by hitting play above.

Mechanical Bull, which features recent singles “Supersoaker” and “Wait for Me,” arrives September 24 via RCA Records. Kings of Leon have a handful of tour dates lined up, including a September 11 appearance at the iTunes Festival, two gigs at this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival, and a slot at the first annual Life Is Beautiful Festival.
