Phoenix Invade the Palace of Versailles for Dazzling ‘Entertainment’ Video

A few months back, Phoenix shared a quaint music video for lead Bankrupt! single “Entertainment.” No, not the Samurai-starring clip that played up the effervescent tune’s Asian influences — the SPIN cover stars also dropped an alternate short, a “homemade performance” video that cast the French foursome in front of a rendering of the Palace of Versailles. Now, the band have filmed yet another clip for the song that finds them outside “The Real Thing,” to quote another Bankrupt! highlight. Produced by La Blogotheque for their “Take Away Show” series, the five-minute piece is nothing short of stunning. Phoenix play a stripped-down version of “Entertainment” — just an acoustic guitar and two keyboards — as dawn breaks over the royal château. The filmmakers used a drone camera to capture the scene, allowing for an uninterrupted four-minute shot that circles the band, flies through the air, and takes in a sweeping view of the gorgeous, historic estate.

This episode is the first in a series of La Blogotheque videos starring Phoenix. Next week, fans can expect performance footage of the beautiful “Bourgeois,” in addition to a short film that follows the Frenchmen over the course of a few days (via Pitchfork). Press play up top and stay tuned for more.
