Miley Cyrus matters, but actually winning an MTV Video Music Award? Not so much. Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins made every reasonable TV viewer’s suspicions official in an impromptu interview with TMZ, which has been really active on the getting-famous-people-to-talk-at-airports scene lately.
Asked about Thirty Seconds to Mars receiving their Best Rock Video award before the actual show, and gripes about rock music being underappreciated right now, Hawkins was refreshingly blasé. “I don’t care man,” he said. “I make a living playing rock’n’roll. I’m not going to complain about anything.”
He continued, giving the cameraman his hook and the rest of us a timely reminder not to take this stuff too seriously: “Who cares? I mean, those awards are nice, but they don’t fucking mean shit.” He also pointed out there might be other worries in the world, which, yeah.
Back in the world of rock’n’roll, though, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has said the band’s next album is already written. He has also said they’re recording the LP on the console from his Sound City documentary. He has also promised a “little secret,” which will presumably be revealed the next time someone corners a Foo Fighters member in a weak pre-flight moment.
