Cults Get Fuzzy on Dark ‘I Can Hardly Make You Mine’

Cults I can Hardly make you mine stream static new song

New York indie-pop experts Cults have shared the first sounds of their second album Static. “?I Can Hardly Make You Mine?” finds the duo expanding on their retro-leaning sound, adding a heavier edge courtesy of Brian Oblivion’s fuzzed-out guitars and some distorted organ, while Madeline Follin’s reverbed vocals have a little extra of oomph thanks to double-tracking and her own god-given sass. Lyrically, it features the same kind of romance-gone-wrong content that populated the pair’s 2011 self-titled debut. Stream “?I Can Hardly Make You Mine?” below and pick up Static on October 15 from Columbia.
