Charli XCX will be staying at home in the United Kingdom when the True Romance singer was supposed to be returning for another run of U.S. tour dates. But wait, she has a pretty good reason for postponed her planned North American trek: She’ll be opening U.K. shows for explosive-pop kindred spirits Paramore, touring behind their excellent self-titled album.
Charli XCX broke the news through Twitter and Facebook, where she expressed her anguish over the decision but was upfront about why she made it. She wrote (deep breath): “I’m going to be completely honest with you, the reason the tour has been postponed is because I have been offered to support Paramore throughout their UK tour, which is a really big deal for me as I haven’t ever really toured in the UK outside of London before.”
Like the Terminator, Charli XCX promised she’ll be back, though specific dates aren’t clear yet. The canceled North American dates would’ve run from Vancouver on August 30 to Orlando, Florida, on October 2. She wrote on Twitter, “The dates are being rescheduled as I speak & the tour will be moved to October/November. I hope u guys will still come if u can make it xx.” She previously canceled a handful of fall European dates, indicating she would be working on new music.

Hi guys. As some of you may have already heard I have annoyingly had to postpone my headline tour in the USA in October/November. It’s really frustrating and it’s really sad and I genuinely am so so so upset about it because I had some amazing ideas and things to share with you in the shows throughout September.
I’m going to be completely honest with you, the reason the tour has been postponed is because I have been offered to support Paramore throughout their UK tour, which is a really big deal for me as I haven’t ever really toured in the UK outside of London before. It’s scary and it’s quite weird but it’s also super exciting for me to finally be able to play shows in the country that I’m from.
I always feel so welcome in the USA and all of you guys have always been so cool and amazing to play too… So I am really so sad that I’m letting you down like this. But this is a big opportunity for me, one that people around me won’t let me decline. I am seriously so sorry to everyone I have let down, and I really do hope that you will be able to make the rescheduled dates (I’m figuring them out right now) and that you will enjoy the new music that is coming very very very soon. All I can promise you is that when I come back to the USA later on this year, the tour will be bigger and better… There’s going to be a lot of changes made and lots of new, exciting things.
