Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham Will Become a Hologram if Son Has His Way

Led Zeppelin John Bonham Hologram Son Jason Live

In a new interview, John Bonham’s son said it’s his dream to drum alongside a hologram version of his famous father. Jason Bonham drummed for Led Zeppelin at the band’s last official gig — their 2007 spectacular at London’s O2 Arena — and is currently touring with his tribute project the Led Zeppelin Experience, which apparently involves a lot of visuals. When asked about the show’s production element by Legendary Rock Interviews, the young Bonham said the following.

“It’s important to me to have something in addition to the music, that was the whole point of it. When I first started doing this I was working with some of the people behind some of the biggest tribute tours like Pink Floyd Experience, the Beatles and now I’m doing it. It’s imperative that I continue putting together the best shows and take it to the next level. I’m talking to people about holograms and my dream is to do the hologram drum solo with dad next to me.”

At which point the reporter preemptively echoed our own reaction with a summary, “Holy shit.” Bonham went on to explain that it’s a difficult endeavor, since fewer people had access to video cameras in the 1970s. Thus far, considering their ’90s source material, rapper resurrections are only really plagued by small concerns like bankruptcy and debates over estate control. Bonham did not speak on whether or not his father’s former bandmates share his enthusiasm.
