Belle and Sebastian Compilation Collages B-Sides, Rarities, and Electro Remixes

belle and sebastian, third eye centre

Belle and Sebastian have a new collection of B-sides and rarities on the way. The Third Eye Centre will arrive on August 27 via Matador Records. According to the label, the 19-track set culls material recorded around the time of 2003’s Dear Catastrophe Waitress, 2006’s The Life Pursuit, and 2010’s Write About Love. The upcoming compilation will be available in CD, digital, and double-vinyl formats, with pre-order offers beginning next week.

Matador describes The Third Eye Centre as a sequel to 2005’s Push Barman to Open Old Wounds, a brilliant double-disc assortment of Belle and Sebastian’s early singles and EPs. But unlike that previous anthology, this just-announced package features a few remixes of already released songs. Here, the Avalanches rework “I’m a Cuckoo,” Richard X tackles “I Didn’t See It Coming,” and Miaoux Miaoux imbue “Your Cover’s Blown” with a space-age electro strut that can be streamed below.

Additionally, the book-smart Scots will embark soon an extensive tour beginning with a July 4 gig at the Quebec City Festival. B&S will then make stops across North America and Europe, calling it quits on September 6 at Bestival 2013 in England. Scroll down for track list and tour information.
