Tomahawk made their U.S. television debut on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night (June 3), performing “White Hats/Black Hats,” a tightly wound highlight off the band’s fourth album, Oddfellows. The alt-metal supergroup — composed of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), Duane Denison (the Jesus Lizard, Silver Jews), John Stanier (Battles, Helmet), and Trevor Dunn (Melvins Lite, Fantômas) — didn’t rely on occult-loving parlor tricks for the above clip (they leave those for the official music videos). Instead, the California unit doubled down on their apocalyptic brand of bug-eyed, creeper-voiced sprawl.
