Parquet Courts Debut Three New Rippers in Radio Session

Parquet Courts Dear Ramona New Songs NPR Live

Parquet Courts have a recently released SPIN Essential album tucked under their belt and are in the midst of a massive tour supporting the aforementioned Light Up Gold, but that’s not stopping the New York post-punkers from churning out new songs. In a fresh session for NPR’s World Cafe, the rowdy four-piece rip through the titular track from their new LP before debuting three previously unheard gems: “Dear Ramona,” “Got Me Wondering Now,” and “The More I Use It, the More It Works.”

Click here to stream their studio visit, which opens with “Light Up Gold” before transitioning into an interview. At 8:56, the music starts up again. The first jam is a mellow mood piece more in line with some of Sonic Youth’s sunburned grooves, while the second is the sort of compact ripper we’ve come to expect. Around 16:40, we get the third of these “two-day-old” tracks, each of which speaks volumes to this band’s minimally labored-over approach. Like the song says, “The more you use it, the more it works.”
