American Northwest Doesn’t Approve of Kanye’s North West

Kanye & Kim, pre-North

Americans don’t approve of North West, the, uh, experimental name given to the daughter of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian. According to Public Policy Polling, 22 percent of Montana residents “oppose” the name, while only 9 percent support it, possibly because they misunderstood the question. The remaining 69 percent of Montana residents have no idea who North West is. (If the newborn one day looks to escape the paparazzi, maybe that’s the place.)

Yesterday, E! reported that Kanye and Kim are telling friends that North is not just a directional pun, but that it also means “higher power.” Makes sense for a man who once declared “I Am a God.” That song, of course, is off West’s new album Yeezus, which debuted this week at No. 1 after a thorough psychoanalysis by our roundtable of badass female culture critics
