Juicy J and the Weeknd’s Bar Visit Goes Very Wrong in Bleak ‘One of Those Nights’ Video

Juicy J, the Weekend, "One of Those Nights," video

We all have those nights. You know ’em: You’re out at a local bar with three women who basically can’t keep their hands off you, and you’re singing about making it rain. Or else you’re sitting at a booth alone, bragging about how much money and sex you get. And then an armed robber comes in to ruin everything. That’s the scene of the new video for Juicy J’s smoky, downbeat the Weekend collaboration “One of Those Nights,” directed by Sam Pilling (Usher’s “Climax,” SBTRKT’s “Wildfire”).

Of course, relatability isn’t the point here: The Weeknd’s whole brand involves nights that are both more hedonistic and more self-loathing than yours. His softly crooned hooks here give Juicy J plenty of room for ratatat grittiness. As for Juicy J, the Three Six Mafia veteran’s solo album Stay Trippy is due out later this year. You say no to weirdly gripping, vaguely disturbing videos. The “Bandz a Make Her Dance” rapper can’t.
