Kendrick Lamar Is the Coolest High School Principal in Rhode Island

Students at Mount Pleasant High School in Providence, Rhode Island, enjoyed one of those experiences on Friday (May 10) that your high school probably thought was possible but never actually was. Thanks to winning the Get Schooled National Attendance Challenge, Kendrick Lamar acted as the school’s principal for one glorious day, speaking to students and posing for photos. According to Rap Up, Lamar encouraged the kids to stay in school and said that his high school English teacher was the biggest reason why he became a rapper.

In a Q&A session he also told students that his current favorite song is “Retrograde” by James Blake, who — between his collaboration with RZA and being sampled by Big K.R.I.T. — has proved to be surprisingly popular among rappers.
