Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain Make Mother’s Day Amends on Twitter

Courtney Love’s public statements can be volatile to say the least, so it’s with great relief we report that she and Frances Bean Cobain have been exchanging fond words over Twitter this week.

Cobain, the Hole singer’s daughter with late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, started the exchange by tweeting at her mother on Sunday. “No more wire hangers … Happy Morther’s Day,” F. Bean wrote on Sunday, attaching the above photo of herself and her mother. Love wrote back: “I worship at your awesome feet and long leggy legs. You mad witch child.”

The mother-daughter affection really started creeping in after Frances’ next tweet. “Favorite photo of all time,” she wrote yesterday, attaching the above photo of herself and her reported fiancé Isaiah Silva, adding, “I’m beyond lucky to have fallen in love with my best friend.” To which Love replied: “am so proud to know this man is my future son in law. so happy for you Bean.   XM”

The positive exchange is heartening when you consider what the two were saying about each other a little more than a year ago. On Twitter, of course, Love said now-recent SPIN cover star Dave Grohl had hit on her daughter, a statement that Grohl and Frances B. both denied: “Twitter should ban my mother,” Frances said in a statement. Love tweeted an apology. Before long, though, her daughter was getting caught up in her mother’s Twitter-related legal travails.

Now, it’s all laughs, which is encouraging to see from two people whose names are so deeply intertwined with recent decades of rock history. After expressing motherly pride, Love added: “oh and he does realize I’ll be moving in one day right?  Let’s wait till after u tie the knot to tell him Bwahaaa.” Bean shot back: “HA! we’ll be sure to have a room above the garage for you to grow old & senile in.”

Courtney: “ok great so say June then?   Mama’s packed and ready.  My mad mad child you   xm.” Frances: “don’t worry, it’ll be big enough for you to hoard cats, candles, akai juice & fabrics.” It might not be Ozzy & Harriet, but we wouldn’t want it any other way.

Love, for what it’s worth, is hitting the road sans Hole for nine days in June. At least she’ll have a room over her daughter’s garage to store her stuff.
