Hear Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s Post-Rock Cover of Lindstrom’s ‘Ra-ako-st’

Unkown Mortal Orchestra Lindstrom 'Ra-ako-st' Cover

Unknown Mortal Orchestra’s just-out sophomore album II has delivered plenty of gems on their behalf: There’s the “Swim and Sleep” video where puppets masturbate, the “So Good at Being in Trouble” clip featuring McLovin battling a cult, that rock-solid Late Night With Jimmy Fallon drop-in, and that excellent interview where main man Ruban Nielson talked to SPIN about “nerding out.” But despite all of that, the band has yet another gift to bestow: a cover of “Rà-àkõ-st” by Norwegian producer Lindstrøm, originally heard on Smalhans, one of our 50 Best Albums of 2012. As Stereogum points out, the nu-disco technician paid the favor forward by remixing “Swim and Sleep” earlier this month. For their part, UMO turn the original track into a rhythm-driven psych-rock jam — something that’d fit just fine in the Jaga Jazzist and Tortoise oeuvres. Get into it:
