The Knife Bless ‘A Tooth for an Eye’ With Pursuit Grooves’ Left-Field Techno

The Knife 'A Tooth for an Eye' Pursuit Grooves Remix

It’s been a big week for the Knife. On Tuesday (April 2), they began streaming their entire new record, their first in seven years, Shaking the Habitual. And today (April 5), we’ve shared SPIN’s extensive interview with Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer, in which a multitude of knotty topics are discussed, from the decision to reunite the band, to the feminist and queer theory that informs their lyrics, to the influence of genuine dance music on their dark and arty sound. Now, over at Gorilla Vs. Bear, you’ll find an official remix for the new LP’s single “A Tooth for an Eye” (remember that gym-rat dance recital?) helmed by left-field techno-maker Pursuit Grooves. The new version transforms the original’s sylvan, somewhat Caribbean vibes into four-on-the-floor house throb offset by strange piano lines and Dreijer Andersson’s ghostly wails. It’s both wonderfully in-sync and nastily off-kilter, and it’s streaming over here. Play the original below:
