At last fans of The-Dream can stop holding their collective breath. While we’re still nearly two months away from the oft-delayed release date of IV Play the album, we now have “IV Play” the song to consider, and it’s a whole heap of a lot better than the other tracks that Terius Nash has tossed our way lately (see the regrettably rappy “Tron” and the Fabolous-featuring “Slow It Down”). The titular jam is now streaming at Rolling Stone, and it may very well be the-dreamiest The-Dream song we’ve yet to hear. “I can give a fuck about the foreplay,” he sings matter-of-factly before elaborating: “I want it now / I’m talking straight sex / Stop fucking around.” Nash has never been one to hide his motivations — and he did promise us an “authentic love-making” experience — but over the mid-’90s-recalling bump ‘n’ grind of this backing track, the man sounds firmly at the top of his game. IV Play, out May 28, just became “highly anticipated” again. So … does that make the song itself a form of foreplay? Stream “IV Play” below or over here.
