Majical Cloudz Casts Father, of ‘Twin Peaks’ Fame, in Shadowy ‘Childhood’s End’ Video

Majical Cloudz, "Childhood's End," video

On TV’s Twin Peaks, actor Kenneth Welsh plays Windom Earle, protagonist Dale Cooper’s former partner on the FBI and, without spoiling anything, a crucial figure in the show’s overall narrative. Welsh’s son happens to be Montreal singer and songwriter Devon Welsh, whose Majical Cloudz project is set to release new album Impersonator on May 21 via Matador. The first track to surface from Impersonator, “Childhood’s End,” is a stark, dramatic electro-pop torch song in the vein of Active Child or How to Dress Well. The song’s newly posted black-and-white video, which stars Welsh and is directed by Emily Kai Bock (Grimes, Grizzly Bear), is noirishly shadow-enshrouded, and it carries over the song’s elliptical yet intimate allure. The younger Welsh wrote about the video here; the elder Welsh must be proud.
