Watch Alice in Chains’ Revelatory ‘Man in the Box’ on ‘Kimmel’

Alice in Chains dug up some fossil-focused artwork for their upcoming fifth album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here (out May 28 via Virgin/EMI), and the Seattle vets dusted off another relic on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (April 10): 1991’s “Man in the Box.” Lead singer William DuVall howls into the mike while Jerry Cantrell simultaneously mans the talk box and shreds his guitar; all the while AiC’s rhythm section chugs through Facelift doom’n’gloomer, which still sounds revelatory on an outdoor stage. Before the grunge 101 history lesson, though, the Funny or Die associates performed “Stone,” a sludgefest that oozes off the band’s forthcoming full-length.
