Savages Announce Furious Debut Album ‘Silence Yourself’

savages, silence yourself, she will

“They’re clearly still developing their own sound, but there’s no denying the furious talent on display.” That’s how SPIN’s Charles Aaron described Savages during last year’s CMJ Music Marathon. Now the British female foursome can show how they’ve sharpened their post-punk assault since, with their upcoming, much-anticipated debut album, Silence Yourself.

On May 7, Matador Records and frontwoman Jehnny Beth’s own Pop Noire label will issue Savages’ first full-length effort. The 38-minute, 11-track LP was recorded in London in December 2012 and produced by Johnny Hostile and Rodaidh McDonald (previous credits include the xx, Adele, How to Dress Well, and more). Silence Yourself will collect new tracks (such as the taut, Bauhaus-indebted “She Will,” which can be heard below) and re-recordings of older tracks (“Husbands,” “I Am Here,” and “City’s Full”) originally spread across the band’s “Husbands”/”Flying to Berlin” debut single and live I Am Here EP. Stream, track list, and tour dates below.

Silence Yourself track list:

1. “Shut Up”
2. “I Am Here”
3. “City’s Full”
4. “Strife”
5. “Waiting for a Sign”
6. “Dead Nature”
