Lostprophets Singer Goes to Trial in June on Horrifying Child Sex Charges

Lostprophets, Ian Watkins

The most horrifying music-related news from late last year is now on track to create the most horrifying music-related court case of 2013. According to the Guardian, Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins is set to stand trial in June on accusations of conspiring to rape a one-year-old girl, among other charges. In a statement, the U.K. nu-metal frontman’s lawyer says he “furiously denies” all charges. Two women, one 20 and the other 24, are also charged alongside Watkins.

Lostprophets saw some U.S. success, including domestic sales of more than a half-million copies of 2004’s Say Something, but they’re a bigger deal across the pond, where 2012’s Weapons topped the U.K. rock album chart. Everyone’s innocent until proven guilty, but we’d rather not have favorable thoughts about Gary Glitter unless we’re talking about glam-rock — and maybe not even then.
