Daft Punk Put on Justin Timberlake’s ‘Suit & Tie’ for Robo-Disco Mashup

Justin Timberlake Jimmy Fallon Michael McDonald Daft Punk

Well, if somebody had to do it, we’re glad the honor went to Chicago mashup kings the Hood Internet, a couple of guys who maintain a sense of humor in an art form (or whatever) that can get a bit self-serious at times. And, really, this one was inevitable: Justin Timberlake’s suavely dull “Suit & Tie” made to dance to Daft Punk’s much-looped and oft-remixed 15-second commercial snippet. It works pretty damn well, rattling off just about every musical sweet tooth there is before fading out after three blithely nice minutes of blue-eyed robo-disco.

But that’s not all. In fact, it never is where the recently resuscitated Timberlake is concerned. He stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to give a couple of atypical performances that turn out to be well worth your viewing time. The first is a version of “Let the Groove Get In” (one of the few things our staff seemed to unanimously not hate about The 20/20 Experience) backed by the Roots and whole bunch of other people. The second is a rendition of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat” performed by three Michael McDonalds. It’s best experienced without explanation.
