“What means the most in a song is the music,” insists Carla Bruni, who is about to issue her long-awaited fourth album, Little French Songs on April 16 (via Verve Records). “It says it all, more than the meaning of the words.” That’s true of “J’arrive à toi” (“I Come to You”), the newest sample from the French singer-songwriter’s pending follow-up to 2008’s Comme si de rien n’etait (As If Nothing Had Happened). Bruni sings exclusively in her native language, but the hesitant guitar line and the 45-year-old’s rich, smoky vocals render any translation unnecessary.
