Eminem already tipped his hat to a 2013 release date for his eighth studio album, but now it’s been confirmed: the Detroit MC’s next full-length will be out after Memorial Day (May 27), Billboard reports. Hence, it’s one of our 50 Albums You Gotta Hear in 2013.
“We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013,” said Paul Rosenberg, president of Shady Records. “He’s been working on it for some time.”
Rosenberg, who is also a co-founder of Shady Records (along with Eminem himself), added, “It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”
The Recovery rapper — who has been “really focused” on music for a while now — will headline this year’s Reading and Leeds festivals on August 24 and 25, respectively, according to his website. Stateside dates are also in the works. Phew, because things were starting to feel so empty without Em.
