David Bowie’s Newest Single ‘The Stars’ Added to a Pile of Record Store Day Treasures

David Bowie 'The Stars' Record Store Day Vinyl

With the due date for David Bowie’s first album in a decade fast approaching, the endless interview chatter is giving way to more concrete news. Over the weekend, Ziggy Stardust’s official Facebook page shared the cover art for a new single dubbed “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” along with a date: February 26, 2013. So while we’ll get to hear the followup to “Where Are We Now?” rather soon, and full-length The Next Day will be released on March 12, fans will have something else to look forward to on April 20.

Today, again via Facebook, Bowie’s camp announced that they’ll be releasing a limited edition 7-inch 45, in conjunction with Record Store Day, which will feature the newest song backed by the newish song. The double-sided single will join two other Bowie rarities in this year’s RSD haul: the 1965! EP and a “Drive-In Saturday” picture disc. Also, as previously reported, Aladdin Sane is looking at a 40th anniversary reissue in April. Much less excitingly, there’s now a The Next Day Facebook photo app for you to play with.
