Pissed Jeans’ Allergy-Punk Yowl ‘Cathouse’ Is More Effective Than Claritin

Pissed Jeans

Animal dander gives some people the sniffles and makes others break out in hives. Pissed Jeans unleash a feral post-hardcore primal scream of their own on “Cathouse,” a song from the Pennsylvania band’s February 12 album Honeys that frontman Matt Korvette told SPIN addresses “crippling pet allergies.” Korvette roars like a wounded animal over the band’s high-scuzz pummel, but anyone who has ever gotten messily drunk just to self-medicate their red-eyed reaction to a pet should identify with his particular complaints: namely, itching and suffocating while everybody else has a fun night — adult angst, y’know? “I tried to fight it / I thought maybe things would change,” the sometime SPIN style blog contributor barks. Whether you suffer from allergies or not, this one should leave you choking with laughter and crying with joy.
