Emmylou Harris has been charged with hit-and-run, TMZ reports. The 65-year-old “Drivin’ Wheel” singer allegedly crashed her rental car into another vehicle while driving on a Los Angeles freeway on October 1, 2012 and then fled the scene without exchanging information.

The L.A. County District Attorney filed the misdemeanor charge against the 12-time Grammy winner earlier today (January 30). A report filed by the other driver at the time of the incident claims that Harris drove off after hitting the person’s car at around 10 p.m. Her rep insisted that Harris didn’t realize she had made contact with the other automobile.

“[It’s a] garden-variety accident that happens every day on the 405,” the rep told TMZ last year, admitting that Harris was involved in a “minor traffic accident.” The spokesperson further clarified, “She unintentionally rubbed bumpers with another vehicle.”

According to the Associated Press, a criminal complaint recorded in Beverly Hills did not specify how much damage occurred. If convicted, Harris could face up to six months in jail.
