Hear Bon Iver Saxophonist Colin Stetson’s Haunting ‘High Above a Grey Green Sea’

Colin Stetson has another History lesson ready to go. As he told SPIN during his In the Studio interview, the acclaimed saxophonist and Bon Iver member will release New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light, the follow-up to 2011’s Vol. 2: Judges, on April 30 via Constellation Records. On the third installment, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon provides vocals on four tracks: opener “And in Truth,” a cover of Washington Phillips’ gospel tune “What Are They Doing in Heaven Today,” “Who the Waves Are Roaring for,” and “Brute,” which features Vernon’s “cookie monster barking.”

Today, Stetson unveiled the haunting Vol. 3 track “High Above a Grey Green Sea,” on which his moaning sax echoes the rolling tide. Hear it below, then peep the album’s full track list and Steton’s upcoming tour dates below.
