Beyonce Leads President Obama’s Stacked Inauguration Concert Lineup

Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson

Beyoncé must be getting pretty used to the White House by now. The former Destiny’s Child singer, who serenaded the First Couple with Etta James’ classic “At Last” at President Obama’s first presidential inauguaration ball four years ago, joins Kelly Clarkson and James Taylor on the bill for Obama’s second inauguration, USA Today reports.

Beyoncé’s tough task will be to sing the national anthem. Clarkson, who won the first American Idol, doesn’t have a much easier job: She’ll handle the patriotic song “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” which Aretha Franklin performed at the 2009 inaugural ceremony while sporting a much-discussed hat. And mellow ’70s singer-songwriter James Taylor will take on “America the Beautiful,” a song he’s previously played in support of the president.

The inauguration is set for January 21, and other anouncements should be on the way soon. Beyoncé, of course, will also be performing at the Super Bowl halftime show on February 3. Though this year’s inaugural events are expected to be more modest as the economic recovery continues to lag, MTV notes that performers at the various 2009 balls included Jay-Z, Kanye West, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Shakira, will.i.am, Fall Out Boy, and Rihanna.
