It wasn’t the triumphant return of Baroness we’ve all been waiting for, but it’ll more than do: This past weekend at Philadelphia’s Decibel 100 fest, Baroness frontman John Baizley appeared onstage for the first time since the band’s tour bus crash in England to perform with Converge. Antiquiet reports that Baizley, who previously penned an open letter to fans promising his imminent return after the August 2012 crash left him with a broken arm and leg, told tDecibel concertgoers about how Converge’s latest record All We Love We Leave Behind helped heal the singer after he thought he’d “lost the ability to love music.” Baizley went on to thank the members of Converge for reaching out to him while he was in the hospital, and with that, Baizley and the hardcore band launched into the All We Love ballad “Coral Blue.” Check out Baizley’s heartfelt speech above and the “Coral Blue” performance below.
