Yeah Yeah Yeahs Will Return With ‘It’s Blitz’ Follow-Up in 2013

Yeah Yeah Yeahs New Album 2013 Spring

Update: The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have confirmed via their Twitter account that the band’s fourth album will be out next spring, writing, “DNA upgrades, spontaneous evolution and NEW YEAH YEAH YEAHS RECORD ARRIVING SPRING 2013! finally.”

Details are scarce so far, but Yeah Yeah Yeahs will be releasing a new album in early 2013, according to the NME, who credit KCRW radio DJ Jason Bentley for breaking the news on his influential Morning Becomes Eclectic show.

Apparently, he promised that the highly anticipated followup to 2009’s It’s Blitz — which SPIN’s Charles Aaron called “the alternative pop album of the decade” — will be coming in the “springtime.”

Due to video of a session between Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner and James Murphy, there was early speculation that the LCD Soundsystem mastermind was producing the band’s still untitled fourth album, but Murphy shot the rumors down in an October interview with the Huffington Post

“I just did a little fun stuff,” Murphy told them. “Nothing really big; I don’t have time and they don’t have time. I think they’re done with their record now, I was just fussing around. I didn’t make their album. They’re just friends.”

Meanwhile, the YYYs have a fairly busy fall. Zinner, SPIN’s 89th Greatest Guitarist of All Time, dressed up as the Dark Knight-inspired Kurt CoBane for Halloween, and Karen O dropped the “Strange Love” lyric video for her Frankenweenie contribution.
