Trent Reznor says “all signs point to yes” in regards to a new Nine Inch Nails album. As Rolling Stone reports, in a separate interview about his work composing the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 score, Reznor reveals that, “Yeah, there will be new music. There are some things in the works.” Also, despite billing the band’s 2009 jaunt as a “farewell tour,” NIN may play out again as well.

“Yeah, if it feels right, it’s a possibility,” he said. “I never said that that wasn’t going to happen, just that it couldn’t go on as it was. Having a few years doing other things, I’ve enjoyed [them] and I’m enjoying doing How to Destroy Angels, and there will be a place for stuff that falls in the Nine Inch Nails column … It’s a different kind of work. Stay tuned. We’ll see what happens here.”

In July, Reznor revived hopes for the first Nine Inch Nails album since 2008’s The Slip via an interview with USA Today, in which he revealed that his old group was “in its gestation period.” Of late, of course, he’s been focusing on How to Destroy Angels — explaining his decision to take his wife’s band to a major, and sharing various versions of their new song “Keep it Together.”

HTDA’s second EP, An Omen, is due out November 13 on Columbia. Reznor has also been working on a mysterious project with Beats By Dre, of which he’s said, “The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I’d like to tell you about the things we’ve dreamed up… I just can’t. Not yet… I can tell you it’s probably not what you’re expecting!” What we’re now expecting, Trent, is a new Nine Inch Nails album.
