Chief Keef Thinks He’s ‘Kobe’ in New Video

Chief Keef Kobe Video

The Los Angeles Lakers’ may be half a season short of a swish so far, but that’s not keeping Chicago rap riser Chief Keef from shouting out the team’s perennially great star player in the video for his new song, “Kobe.” The simple clip comes to us courtesy of director Hi-Def, known for helming clips by Soulja Boy and 50 Tyson, plus these nice white people’s wedding, and features the weed-loving MC doing his thing in front of a Bentley between shots of L.A.’s Staples Center and a billboard featuring Kobe Bryant’s face. Over an appropriately ratchet Young Chop beat, KC claims in the Based style that, “Since I signed with Jimmy Iovine, I think I’m Kobe.” It’s not quite the calling card that the raw, righteous “Love Sosa” was, but a step up from his recent Auto-Tuned forays, no doubt, and a helluva lot better than getting locked up for doing an interview with Pitchfork.
