A noted friend to elderly women in need, Morrissey is taking a week off of his current U.S. tour to spend time with his mother, who has been hospitalized in England. A press release delivered to Morrissey fanzine True to You described Elizabeth Morrissey as “unwell,” and explained that the four currently canceled dates — Pittsburgh, Columbus, Flint, and Chicago — will be rescheduled.
According to the announcement, “New dates will be announced within the coming days [and] the remainder of the U.S. tour will be unaffected.” This means Moz will still make it to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa, where Buddy Holly played his final show, and that his Los Angeles gig at the Staples Center, supported by Iggy and the Stooges, is still on as well.
