Grimes Nixes Three Shows, Citing ‘Hearing Loss, Tinnitus’

Grimes mastermind Claire Boucher

Grimes has canceled a handful of Canadian shows due to ear problems. As Pitchfork points out, both Claire Boucher herself and Canadian live event producer Perryscope Concerts have announced that scheduled shows through October 21 in Calgary, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg are off on account of what Perryscope calls “inner ear complications.”

The Montreal electro-pop genre-aggregator (and former SPIN Best New Artist) tweeted: “Hey guys, so sorry 4 the cancelled shows. im having trouble w hearing loss, tinnitus & am trying 2 stay away from loud music 4 a bit -_-“. She added: “am still planning to finish the tour and will try 2 get back 2 canada asap <3”

A show tonight in Vancouver is still on, and Grimes plans to pick up the rest of her tour in support of this year’s Visions on October 22 in Minneapolis. Refunds for the canceled shows are available at the point of purchase, according to Perryscope. Here’s hoping Boucher gets well soon and we all remember to wear earplugs.
