Andrew W.K. is nothing if not amped and, as evidenced by his My Little Pony moment last weekend, he’s always up for weirdness. On Sunday, October 7 at 7:30 p.m. he will be joining another bona fide stranegoid and consumate showman, David Blaine, at New York’s Pier 54 in order to blast the illusionist with one million volts of electricity via a supercharged keyboard solo.
As the Los Angeles Times reports, this dangerous duet is the centerpiece of Blaine’s Electrified show, in which he’ll spend three days and nights imprisoned in a massive, seven-orb Tesla Coil that fans (or foes) around the world will be able to control at designated “Intel-inspired” Dell Ultrabook stations. Electrified kicks off today and will be streaming via YouTube.
Said W.K. via statement: “This is absolutely a once in a lifetime musical experience and probably the most dangerous musical instrument ever created! I’m absolutely electrified and terrified by the opportunity to play a keyboard solo with so much energy, and to use this incredibly powerful device to send a musical surge through David’s brain!”
Unsurprisingly, this is not W.K.’s first brush with intense currents.
