‘XTRO’

This movie is like what would’ve happened if Roger Corman got his hands on the E.T. script before Steven Spielberg did. This 1983 gross-out horror flick has it all: Alien abduction, doppelgangers, a Species-like reproduction plot, killer clowns, rabid panthers, gratuitous sex scenes, blood guzzling monsters, demonic children…the works. British director Harry Bromley Davenport was pretty no-holds-barred when it came to envisioning his film, overstuffing it with disjointed ideas that melded into one cult classic — the same way Animal Collective approach their music in the studio. Avey Tare: I think one of the reasons I really like horror is kind of once you go there all boundaries are broken. It’s kind of like anything can happen, it doesn’t really matter.
