“If I die before my time, bury me upside down,” Chan Marshall sings on “Cherokee,” from her latest album as Cat Power, the SPIN Essential-stamped Sun. Our contributor Jessica Hopper points out in her review that such inverted burial was traditionally reserved for suicides, but in the just-released “Cherokee” video, directed by Marshall herself, zombie-like day walkers loom large as another potential cause of death. Marshall teams up with some humans equipped with mysterious crystals to fighting the good fight and even brings along her adorable French bulldog!
