Of Montreal have announced a new rarities compilation, and the Athens, Georgia psych-poppers are streaming a glammy, off-kilter preview of the record. Daughter of Cloud, due out on October 23 via Polyvinyl, will consist of 10 previously unreleased and seven hard-to-find tracks recorded between 2007 and 2012, as Pitchfork points out. Listen below to “Sails, Hermaphroditic,” a splashy, lithely funky song about how “if I could Dr. Funkenstein the world … I would change the shit out of you.” Pre-order Daughter of Cloud here on CD, double LP, or cassette; the LP will be available in a limited run of 500 “cyan”-colored editions, while the cassette is being issued via Joyful Noise, and of course the comp will also be out digitally, because this is the forecast fascist future.

Separately, as Pitchfork also notes, Of Montreal frontman Kevin Barnes’ wife Nina Barnes has joined with Azure Ray half Orenda Fink under the name Harouki Zombi. Their first release will be the Objet Petit A EP, also due out on October 23 via Polyvinyl, and Kevin Barnes wrote and produced the EP cut “Vacated Hunters.” The title track, which you can hear below, veers between French-language coos and whispered English-language confessions, backed by wobbly, textured electronics and prickly guitar, suggesting a stylish cosmopolitanism somewhat reminiscent of Stereolab. But again, that might just be the whole French thing.
