Hear Lana Del Rey’s Dramatic Full ‘Blue Velvet’ Cover

lana del rey h&m blue velvet song

Now that we’re all caught up on our David Lynch references, Lana Del Rey’s “Blue Velvet” cover and commercial for fast-fashion retailer H&M have leaked in full.

In the two-minute spot, LDR croons alternately in a pale pink sweater and cigarette pants at a mic stand before a surrealist waiting room of weirdos, and in a blue splatter-print dress as a man dangles a pocket watch hypnotically in front of her. As she sings, her face ranges between one and three on the emotional scale, her nails long and her hair forever in that tall bouffant pinned with an oversize rhinestone brooch.

The full track, which may or may not appear on the re-release of her debut album, essentially borrows everything from “Born to Die”: There’s the opening crescendo of strings, the faraway drum that languidly echoes, Lana in her lower register. Watch and listen below.
