See Gary Clark Jr. Play Incendiary New Cut ‘Numb’ Live

Gary Clark Jr.

This past summer, festival king Gary Clark Jr. used an early afternoon set time on Bonnaroo’s final day to incinerate a Tennessee pasture that had been soaked with rain the night before. It was as as if the entire fest grounds woke up at once. Right now, the Austin native is preparing for the release of his forthcoming debut full-length, October 22’s Blak and Blu, which will include “Numb,” a flame-throwing, “Sweet Emotion”-inflected number you can see and hear exclusively for the first time below in a performance at Willie Nelson’s studio in Spicewood, Texas.

“It’s been a whirlwind, but I’ve had some time to reflect on the whole year,” Clark Jr. recently told SPIN. “I’ve always thought it would be fun to run around, play festivals, meet all these people. It is a bit overwhelming, but it’s like a dream come true. I am grateful and very aware of myself in all of these moments, because it is pretty special.”
