In May, the Red Hot Chili Peppers promised a “storm of seven-inches coming out over the next six months,” and it just so happens they’re fairly good at predicting the weather. A “storm” turns out to mean nine records, or 18 songs in all, and the first such single — “Strange Man” b/w” Long Progression” — came out on August 14. The follow-up, “Magpies on Fire” b/w “Victorian Machinery,” is due out next month, but the tracks have already surfaced online via Grunge Report. Listen to mellow, slow-paced “Magpies on Fire” and crunchy, disjointed “Victorian Machine” below, and check local forecasts for the remaining seven singles soon.
