Jack White is not done headlining 2012 festivals. In addition to the other dozen or so fests he’s anchored this year, the onetime White Stripe will be leading the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, scheduled for October 6 at Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion.The event announced its lineup today — which also includes M83, Nas, Santigold, ZZ Top, and Porter Robinson — via winners of a Twitter contest (thus the cutesy photos above). Skrillex is also slotted for an evening set on one of the two main stages, allowing Above & Beyond to rattle the autumn leaves over at the EDM-grounded Dance Forest. Tickets go “on free” at noon August 24, but select advanced tickets can be preordered by fans who find a private link on Virgin’s Twitter account. There will also be some “freemium packages” available to very special FREE. I. P. guests, complete with a free souvenir T-shirt and cup and early admission to the festival grounds. Did we mention free? Because it’s kind of their shtick. And for that, LG, we thank you.
