Pearl Jam Associate Charged for Stealing $380K From Band

Eddie Vedder

The ex-CFO of Pearl Jam’s management company has been charged with 33 counts of theft, swindling the band out of $380,000 over a four-year period that ended with his firing nearly two years ago.

According to SeattlePI (via the Hollywood Reporter), Seattle police say Rickey Charles Goodrich, whose alleged fraud began in 2006, is also accused of costing Curtis, Inc, over $566,000 as a result of the theft. The report also alleges that Goodrich has admitted to owing his former employer “hundreds of thousands of dollars.” He was fired in September 2010, right about the same time that frontman Eddie Vedder married his second wife, Jill McCormick. Kelly Curtis, Pearl Jam’s manager and head of Curtis, Inc, has released a statement expressing the company’s being “deeply saddened by this situation.”

Goodrich, who has yet to give any comment on the allegations, is expected to enter a plea in a King County court next week, on June 28. The suit comes, inconveniently, in the midst of the political campaign season, in which Pearl Jam involved itself last week by announcing some pretty fancy incentives for paying attention to their friend Jon Tester’s Montana senatorial reelection bid, as well as while the band is preparing to headline Jay-Z’s Made in America festival in Philly over Labor Day weekend.
