Nicki Minaj is one of a handful of artists whose rise to fame has been closely tied to social media, which is why her latest online move is one of her most baffling yet. Last night the MC deleted her Twitter account, followed by 11 million users, after an apparent scuffle with one of her largest fan sites, who Minaj alleged posted leaked music. “Like seriously, its [sic] but so much a person can take. Good fucking bye,” she tweeted before shutting the operation down. Maybe that was just Roman talking?

Over the weekend, Minaj blocked fansite NickiDaily, responding via Twitter to a fan who wrote the site “kno why they got blocked” by writing, “Exactly. posted leaked music! *deletin twttr*.” NickiDaily now redirects to

Minaj has been frantically promoting sophomore disc Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded for the past few weeks with a video for “Beez in the Trap” and a surprise performance in Times Square. She’s been receiving a lot of mixed press for an interview on Nightline during which she talked about her difficult childhood and alleged abuse at the hands of her father. “I wanted to kill [my father]. I used to wish he was dead … ‘We were afraid for my mother’s life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst he would threaten to kill her,” Minaj said.

With or without the help of a little controversy, Roman Reloaded debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
