T.I. Free Tomorrow, Flaming Lips Record Epic + More

  • T.I. will be released from a Georgia prison on August 31, after serving a sentence for parole violation stemming from a drug arrest. The rapper will be let out one month early, and will enter a halfway house. Expect T.I. to start recording new music soon. “I’m going all the way back to square one, like I’m fresh in the game and never sold a record,” he said in a blog post on his website TrapMuzik. [MTV]

  • Chris Cornell has released a new solo song titled “The Keeper,” which will be the lead track from his soundtrack to the forthcoming movie Machine Gun Preacher. Proceeds from download sales will benefit Sam Childer’s Angels of East Africa Charity. The full soundtrack drops on September 20. [Chris Cornell]
