Green Day’s “Secret” Gig, Muse Talk Next LP + More

  • Green Day will play an intimate gig on August 11 at the Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa, CA, one of the group’s smallest shows in years. The one-off performance will raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tickets are available at the door for $20 (cash only) and there is a strict no-camera/no-cellphone policy. [L.A. Times]

  • Muse will begin working on their follow-up to 2009’s The Resistance next month, after performing at the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the U.K. “People tend not to play new songs live anymore,” says bassist Chris Wolstenholme. “That’s why we want to get into the studio, make another album, and then tour it.” [BBC]

  • Welsh rockers the Joy Formidable are hoping to release their follow-up to this year’s The Big Roar in 2012. Frontwoman Ritzy Bryan says they’ve already got 15-20 songs written. “We write all the time, even when we’re on the road, because we record ourselves, we build collections of songs quite quickly,” she says.   • OFF! — the hardcore punk outfit fronted by Circle JerksKeith Morris — have announced a 15-date fall tour. After performing at FYF Fest in Los Angeles, CA and Music Fest NW in Portland, OR in September, the trek will kick off on October 7 in Salt Lake City, UT and wrap up on October 23 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.   • Coheed and Cambria bassist Michael Todd has been indicted after allegedly robbing a pharmacy last month in Mansfield, MA. He faces charges of armed robbery and possession of painkillers and will be arraigned September 8; he is currently out of jail on a $25,000 bond. [The Sun Chronicle]
