  • Indie record retailers have signed a petition letter slamming Jay-Z and Kanye West over plans to release their collaborative album Watch the Throne. Shop owners are upset that the pair’s label, Def Jam, is giving iTunes and Best Buy exclusive windows for sales. iTunes will have the album on August 8; Best Buy will have a two-week exclusive window for the deluxe edition until August 23. The set will be available to all stores on August 12. “This may work for Jay-Z, but he is hurting all the other retailers, and this will affect the entire industry,” an industry source told Billboard.
