DOWNLOAD: First New Girls Song

Any day that starts with a new Girls track is a good day. Especially when it’s a heartbreaking love song with the decidedly unromantic title “Vomit.”

The six-and-a-half minute track is the first leak from the San Francisco band’s second LP, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, out September 13. (Read more about the LP here). “Vomit” comes loaded with sunburst psych-rock guitars, church organs, and a female gospel choir. And singer-guitarist Christopher Owens pours his heart out: “Nights I spend alone / Looking for you baby / Lookin’ for love!”

“I wrote ‘Vomit’ before Girls was even a band or an idea,” Owens told Matablog. “This is one of the first songs I ever wrote. What you’re hearing in ‘Vomit’ is someone who is at life’s lowest, seeing the light, and becoming a songwriter.”
