Death Cab Cover Ride’s Shoegaze Gem ‘Twisterella’

Death Cab for Cutie have been performing their own take on Ride’s “Twisterella” at recent shows, but when the band dropped by the BBC recently, Ben Gibbard and Co. laid down an awesome in-studio take on the shoegaze classic. Hear it here (via Consequence of Sound).

Ride’s original version — from their 1992 album Going Blank Again — found the British band lightening up their heavy, fuzzed-out sound, and Death Cab, whose new album Codes and Keys mixes uplifting lyrics with multi-instrumentalist Chris Walla’s heavy textures, are one of the only bands who could do the song justice. Don’t believe us? Compare the two versions below.
