Bright Eyes Prep EP, Madonna Hits Studio + More

  • Bright Eyes will release a six-song EP of live songs on July 4. The set, capturing performances from the band’s current tour, features tunes from Conor Oberst and Co.’s latest set The People’s Key. [Paste]

  • Madonna will hit the studio next month to begin work on her first album since 2008’s Hard Candy, according to her manager Guy Oseary. “She has a good idea on which producers she will be working with,” Oseary posted on Twitter, adding that she has already listened to potential tracks.

  • Paul McCartney has revealed that he’s discussed collaborating with GorillazDamon Albarn on new music. “We have kind of talked,” he says. “Nothing serious, but I like what they do. I have run into Damon at things and we have talked. It’s not near a couple of times but we never had the time, I suppose.” [The Quietus]

  • Bruce Springsteen has posted an update on Clarence Clemons‘ condition after the saxophonist suffered a stroke on Sunday, saying “all initial signs are encouraging….   • No Doubt drummer Adrian Young and his wife Nina welcomed new baby Magnolia Renée on June 10, the drummer revealed on the band’s Twitter.It is the couple’s second child. “We are beyond happy and excited!” he wrote.

  • Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks have announced a fall tour in support of their forthcoming Beck-produced disc Mirror Traffic, out August 23. The trek – which will not feature longtime drummer Janet Weiss – kicks off September 20 in Detroit, MI and wraps up on October 20 in Solana Beach, CA. Ticket on-sales begin June 17. [Matablog]
